LAHORE: Allama Tahirul Qadri has said that on December 23 he would announce an agenda of National reforms which, he claims, would guarantee provision of rights of the common people.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore upon his return to the country on Saturday, Allama Qadri said that he wanted revolutionary changes in political and electoral system of the country.
Qadri said that he successfully defended the true image of Islam in the West, declaring that now they are convinced the true image of Islam is not that the one adopted by terrorists. He added that he told them that terrorists exist in every religion and that terrorism should not be associated with Islam. He said that instead, some elements were trying to bring a bad name to Islam.
The scholar said in his book, he has tried to give the true picture of Islam by not accusing Taliban or any other organisation. He said in past, everyone used to think that Islam was as was adopted and followed by the likes of Osama bin Laden, but now this thinking has changed.
He said he was not against the politics, since it is a part of Islam. But, he said that he was against the kind of politics of benefits. He said he wanted the sort of politics that provides education, housing, clothes, food and employment to the common people.
In response to a question, he said he was not facing any hurdles from the Punjab government or any other authority against his December 23 procession.
He urged everyone who wanted revolution to come out of their homes and attend his procession.
