MQM reiterates demand for army deployment in Karachi

The Pakistani Army coming onto the streets is the worst idea one can fathom. The reason for this is because of the fact that there will be more carnage and destruction. Who will be in charge, the Army or the government? The two institutions do not function together. They each have their own agenda. Karachi is already a city of destruction; with suicide bombings, kidnappings, murder, theft, chaos, destruction, disease and no sense of law and order; in fact this is the state of the whole of Pakistan. If the Army come the already divided people will be further divided, a situation like that of Syria, Libya and Egypt will come into play. Karachi will become divided within itself, and will then transcend either into the city being closed off from the rest of the country devolving away, or its city-wide civil war would then take over the country. This division of people will be one side for the Army and the other for the government. The Army would provide temporary security, but like all institutions in Pakistan its corruption will wreak through and evil will start to push through. Whereas the government is already corrupt and the people are immune to it - "how fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think" said by Adolf Hitler - with majority of the country being illiterate no one understand what and who they vote in, they think that living in dire insecurity, with mass inflation, terrorism and natural resources shortage, is the way to live. Father after son after son have lived this way for generations ever since the last 60 years, they know nothing different. They do not know what real democracy, civil rights and political participation is.

So, what we have established is that if the Army comes into Karachi there will be dire consequences right across the whole of Pakistan.

KARACHI: Muttahaida Quami Movement (MQM) leader, Dr Farooq Sattar asked Saturday that if the Rangers could be called to protect Karachi, why the army could not be called.

Speaking with the media, Sattar said that according to the constitution, Rangers had been in the city to provide protection for 22 years, asking why the army could not be called in to provide protection to the people and the business community. “I am not saying that the Rangers are partial, but certain expediencies don not let them do their job.”

Sattar added that when people from the Katchi community return home they are welcomed with bombs, bullets and rockets. He said that under such circumstances only the army could control the situation in Karachi.

The MQM leader informed the media that a decision to attend the special cabinet session on September 3 over the law and order situation in Karachi would be made after consultation.
